The 69th Annual Golden Globes air tonight and this is an awards show I always look forward to. I like when they mix TV and Film stars together. I will be posting my votes for best and worst dressed tonight, but here is my predictions on who a few of the winners could be.

BEST MOTION PICTURE – DRAMA

  1. THE DESCENDANTS
Ad Hominem Enterprises; Fox Searchlight Pictures
  2. THE HELP
DreamWorks Pictures, Participant Media; Touchstone Pictures
  3. HUGO
Paramount Pictures presents a GK Films Production; Paramount Pictures
  4. THE IDES OF MARCH
Columbia Pictures, Cross Creek Pictures, Exclusive Media Group, Crystal City Entertainment; Sony Pictures Releasing
  5. MONEYBALL
Columbia Pictures; Sony Pictures Releasing International
  6. WAR HORSE
    DreamWorks Pictures; Touchstone Pictures

I really wanted to see The Descendants before tonight, but I never got the chance. I heard it was good. I have a feeling that The Help is going to win this one.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A MOTION PICTURE – DRAMA

  1. GLENN CLOSE in Albert Nobbs
  2. VIOLA DAVIS in The Help
  3. ROONEY MARA in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo
  4. MERYL STREEP in The Iron Lady
  5. TILDA SWINTON in We Need to Talk About Kevin

Meryl Streep once said; the way to win an award is to do a bio-pic, which means she probably will win for her portrayal as Margaret Thatcher.  However I think Viola Davis should win. She had a Stellar performance by her in The Help.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A MOTION PICTURE – DRAMA

  1. GEORGE CLOONEY in The Descendants
  2. LEONDARDO DICAPRIO in J. Edgar
  3. MICHAEL FASSBENDER in Shame
  4. RYAN GOSLING in The Ides Of March
  5. BRAD PITT in Moneyball

Again we have a bio-pic actor, Leonardo Dicaprio, so the vote could go to him- but I think Brad Pitt deserves and award; however Ryan Gosling is well overdue. This one will keep us on the edge of our seats for sure!

BEST MOTION PICTURE – COMEDY OR MUSICAL

  1. 50/50
Summit Entertainment and Mandate Pictures; Summit Entertainment
  2. THE ARTIST
a La Petite Reine – Studio 37 – La Classe Americaine – JD Prod- France3 Cinema – Jouror Production-uFilms coproduction; The Weinstein Company
  3. BRIDESMAIDS
Universal Pictures, Relativity Media, Apatow Productions; Universal Pictures
  4. MIDNIGHT IN PARIS
A Mediapro, Versatil Cinema & Gravier Production; Sony Pictures Classics
  5. MY WEEK WITH MARILYN
The Weinstein Company; The Weinstein Company

I’ve seen all of these nominations and I loved each and every one! I have a feeling it could go to The Artist, since it was so different…but I have a major soft spot for Midnight in Paris, it was one of my favorite films of the year!

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A MOTION PICTURE – COMEDY OR MUSICAL

  1. JODIE FOSTER in Carnage
  2. CHARLIZE THERON in Young Adult
  3. KRISTIN WIIG in Bridesmaids
  4. MICHELLE WILLIAMS in My Week With Marilyn
  5. KATE WINSLET in Carnage

If you want to give the award to a true comedic actor, I think the award goes Kristen Wiig, but Michelle Williams did an amazing job as Marilyn Monroe, and its a bio-pic so I think she might take this one. The tricky part is these two are up against two very popular award winners; Kate Winslet and Jodie Foster.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A MOTION PICTURE – COMEDY OR MUSICAL

  1. JEAN DUGARDIN in The Artist
  2. BRENDAN GLEESON in The Guard
  3. JOSEPH GORDON-LEVITT in 50/50
  4. RYAN GOSLING in Crazy, Stupid, Love
  5. OWEN WILSON in Midnight In Paris

Man, this one is a hard one for me to pick…Jean Dujardin did an amazing job in The Artist, but he didn’t actually speak! Joseph Gorden-Levitt was so raw and emotional in 50/50 that I think he could be a serious contender, but I think Ryan Gosling could potentially take this one…he’ll either get one for Ides of March or Crazy, Stupid, Love. I preferred him in this film because it was a role we haven’t really seen him play before and he knocked it out of the park!

BEST TELEVISION SERIES – DRAMA

  1. AMERICAN HORROR STORY (FX)
    Twentieth Century Fox Television
  2. BOARDWALK EMPIRE (HBO)
Leverage, Closest to the Hole Productions, Sikelia Productions and Cold Front Productions in association with HBO Entertainment
  3. BOSS (STARZ)
Lionsgate Television in association with Grammnet NH Productions, Roya Productions and Old Friends Productions
  4. GAME OF THRONES (HBO)
Bighead, Littlehead, 360 Television, Grok and Generator Productions in association with HBO Entertainment
  5. HOMELAND (SHOWTIME)
SHOWTIME Presents, Teakwood Lane Productions, Cherry Pie Productions, Keshet, Fox 21

I think Game of Thrones should win, but Boardwalk Empire has Martin Scorsese behind the show, and they have won in the past. Game of Thrones has my vote! ( I’m majorly looking forward to April when season 2 comes out!)

BEST TELEVISION SERIES – COMEDY OR MUSICAL

  1. ENLIGHTENED (HBO)
Ripcord Productions in association with HBO Entertainment
  2. EPISODES (SHOWTIME)
SHOWTIME Presents, Hat Trick Productions, Crane Klarik Productions
  3. GLEE (FOX)
Ryan Murphy Television in association with Twentieth Century Fox Television
  4. MODERN FAMILY (ABC)
Levitan-Lloyd Productions in association with Twentieth Century Fox Television
  5. NEW GIRL FOX
Chernin Entertainment in association with Twentieth Century Fox Television

I just watched all of the first season of Enlightened in one weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. But I think this one will be a toss-up between Glee and Modern Family. We all could get a surprise and New Girl could take it, it has been getting lots of buzz.

What are some of your predictions? Do you agree with what I have chosen? I guess we will have to wait until tonight and officially find out. I’ve been looking forward to this awards show because Ricky Gervais is just plain awesome. I saw in an interview that he is NOT handing in his jokes for approval, which means its going to be just as funny as last year! I mean honestly, when was the last time you laughed out loud during an awards show? This guy MAKES the show!
